Homemade with love since 1955

Garside’s Ice Cream has been serving dozens of flavors of delicious, frozen desserts to happy customers since 1955! Garside’s has filled millions of ice cream orders in that time. The business was created in the mid-1950s by Arthur Garside (c. 1897-1983) who operated the stand until 1981.

In 1981, Gordon & Mary Pendleton took over where Arthur Garside left off. Gordon Pendleton (1928 – 1994) was a graduate of Thornton Academy and the University of Maine at Orono, then a Teacher and Athletic Director at Deering High School in Portland.

When Mary Pendleton passed away in 2018, Julie Kramer bought Garside’s. Born in Montreal, Canada, Julie moved to the United States in 2001 and traveled until she came to Maine and never left! Proud mom of Joshua and Julianna Kramer-Vallee, and married to Michael Mulderig. An entrepreneur at heart, Julie lives right here in Saco. Her #1 priority is keeping customers happy by producing and serving top quality delicious ice cream. Her goal is to improve the iconic landmark, grow the brand, and establish distribution.

We are proud of our premium-quality ice cream, and strive to manufacture a top-notch product and offer a wide variety of flavors to please the most traditional, as well as the most eccentric palates. We use the highest quality ingredients and pour a lot of love into making our ice cream! Help us to preserve Garside’s legacy as a Maine institution, for future generations to enjoy!
